New flats, Gosport
The development site is a discussed yard to the rear of a High Street shop. The brief was to design a building to provide some self-contained dwellings.
The challenges included the need to keep access/egress to the rear of the High Street shop and to keep the building from becoming over-bearing to the existing residential dwellings next to the site.
Draft plans were produced and after consultation with the client a full planning application was submitted.
The development created three self-contained flats over two stories, with associated bicycle storage. These dwellings complied with the Lifetime Homes Standards.
Part of the 1st floor was set over an archway that kept a thoroughfare through to the rear of the existing shop. The external elevations of the buiding were designed to fit in well with the existing street scene. Planning permision was granted in August 2008.
