Subway Drive-Thru, Poole

Ellis & Partners were instructed to design a scheme for a Subway drive-thru development on a strip of land in Poole. This came with many interesting challenges that included the small scale of the plot and its close proximity to a busy A road.

From our initial site survey we prepared a plan of the site which we used to prepare options to show the client. After finalising on an option we prepared all the required drawings and documents for a full planning application.

We liased with the council throughout the process, making the requried ammendments as necessary.

We obtained planning permision for the development in October 2008.

New flats, GOSPORT

The development site is a dissused yard to the rear of a High Street shop. The brief was to design a building to provide some self-contained dwellings.

The challenges included the need to keep access/egress to the rear of the High Street shop and to keep the building from becoming over-bearing to the existing residential dwellings next to the site.

Draft plans were prodoced and after consultation with the client a full planning application was submitted.

The development created three self-contained flats over two stories, with associated bicycle storage. These dwellings complied with the Lifetimne Homes Standards.

Part of the 1st floor was set over an archway that kept a thoroughfare through to the rear of the existing shop. The external elevations of the buiding were designed to fit in well with the existing street scene.

Planning permision was granted in August 2008.
